J. Maldonado-Malla, Chairman & President
President of FilmMates Entertainment since November 2006, joined FilmMates Partners LLC as Director of Business Development and Strategic Marketing in 2002, then two years later, was promoted to Vice President. Malla spearheaded the acquisition of the film, “American Reunion,” and oversaw its domestic theatrical release; he also played a key role in the acquisition of World Wide Multi-Media, Camden Equities, and Hollywood International Finance film and television library. In 2005, he was promoted to Senior Vice President, supervised the release of “Living Life,” and negotiated a strategic distribution partnership with Vivendi Universal Visual Entertainment (Vivendi Entertainment) which established the company’s home video division. At the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, Malla acquired the worldwide rights to the controversial Turkish film, “Valley of the Wolves, Irak” directed by Sedar Akar and starring Billy Zane, Necati Sasmaz, and Gary Busey. He was appointed chairman in 2007 to lead the company’s reorganization strategy and acquire controlling interest from Entertainment Capital Corporation (ECC)
He co-founded the New Media Council for the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and, in 2001, was recognized by the PGA for achievements in digital media production. He was elected to serve on the Board of Governors, chaired the finance and sponsorship committees, negotiated the Guild’s strategic alliance with INTEL Corporation, and served as the New Media Council’s Vice Chairman in 2006.
Maldonado’s production credits include Executive Producer of several innovative interactive webisodes: “The Adventures of Ozzie & Quark” and the “iPasha Pop Show,” featuring Olympic Gold Medal Champion Pasha Grishuk. Malla co-founded Lightforce Films a production company based in Culver City where he produced music videos, television commercials and developed and acquired film properties.
From 1987 through 1997, he headed Malla Entertainment, a talent management company where he represented a diverse roster of talent from music recording artists, film directors, screenwriters and actors. J. Antonio Maldonado Malla is a seasoned executive and producer with more than 30 years experience in the entertainment industry.
William J. Nance, CFO-Director
Bill Nance was appointed FilmMates Entertainment CFO in 2007. He serves on the board of directors of four publicly traded companies, Santa Fe Financial Corporation, Portsmouth, Goldspring Inc., and Intergroup (INTG) NASDAQ, where he served as CFO, COO, and Treasurer and presently chairs the audit committee. His significant achievements include specializing in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, corporate restructuring and capitalization. In addition he is a consultant to a four star hotel in San Francisco and was one of the three key members of the executive committee that oversaw a $45 Million dollar renovation project.
Mr. Nance has extensive background in the real estate and financial sectors, played integral part in the take over of a public REIT, in which he became CFO, COO and Treasurer and presently serves on the company’s investment committee.
Mr. Nance is a Certified Public Accountant and served six years as a senior auditor with Kenneth Leventhal & Company later (Merged with Ernst@ Young) with primary focus on public reporting entities 10-Q and annual 10-K filings with has extensive background in reorganization of companies.
